Scottish Women's Rural Institute

Did you know that the Rural is the biggest organisation for women in Scotland with almost 20,500 members?

The main aims of the organisation are as follows :-

  • To advance the education and training of those who live and work in the country or are interested in country life, home skills, family welfare and citizenship.
  •  To promote the preservation and development of Scotland's traditions, rural heritage and culture.
In Gartmore, the Rural meets at 7.30pm in the Village Hall on the third Wednesday of the month from October to May. Membership is £11 and visitors are charged £2.50. The meetings generally take the form of a short business section, an interesting talk or demonstration and end with tea and a light supper when everyone has the chance to mingle and chat. Visitors and new members will always be made most welcome.
