Welcome to Gartmore Village

Gartmore is one mile off the main A81 Glasgow to Aberfoyle road, three miles to the south of Aberfoyle. It lies 18 miles from Stirling and 20 miles from Glasgow. The area is characterised by rolling farmland and forest with open views to the hills and mountains beyond the council boundary. As well as the village itself there are groupings of several dwellings at Dalmary and Crinigart with outlying properties throughout the area. The village is now part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park  (www.lochlomond-trossachs.org) and is deemed an area of great natural beauty.

Gartmore Village Vision Statement

A beautiful, well-kept village
Gartmore is a fine example of a planned 18th Century village.  We will continue to build on our heritage, improve the streetscape, have a well-looked-after village environment, improve traffic calming and parking in the village and make a focal feature out of our village square

Set amidst countryside we can access for recreation and leisure
Gartmore benefits from easy access to the countryside for walking, cycling and riding.  We will continue to develop and maintain access in conjunction with local and land managers and the National Park Authority.

Not just a dormitory
Part of shaping our own future will be to try to ensure that we do not just become a high house price dormitory, that we maintain services and support local business in whatever way we can.  This will include making sure that there are good transport links to and from the village and availability of affordable housing for new families.

A community organised to shape its own sustainable development
Gartmore has a history of taking action to save and develop our local services.  We will build on this success by strengthening the co-operation amongst community organisations, and making the most of all our local resources and expertise.

A place where young people thrive

It is especially important to us that Gartmore is not just another rural village where the young people say "nothing to do".  We will work as a community to support youth activities and facilities.
